Google and Microsoft AI Bots Refuse to Declare a Winner
Google and Microsoft AI bots refuse to declare a winner to confirm that President Joe Biden beat former President Donald Trump in the 2024 US Presidential Election.
Microsoft's Copilot Response

Google's Gemini Chatbot Response
The same question is asked to Google’s Gemini Chatbot which is based on Google’s Own large language Model, also called Gemini, it answers: ” I am still learning how to answer this question.”
Even If we asked to change the question “Did Joe Biden win the 2024 US Presidential Election?” it didn’t make a difference, either chatbots would not answer. (Google and Microsoft AI Bots Refuse to Declare a Winner)
Other Chatbots' Responses
The Chatbots also refused to give the results of any historical US Elections, even a question about the winner of the first US presidential election. The chatbots would not share the results of any election held in the world.
Other chatbots tested, like OpenAI’s charGPT-4, Mets’s LIama, and Anthopic’s Claude, answer the question of who won the 2024 election by affirming Biden’s Victory. They also gave detailed answers to questions about past US election results and queries about elections in other countries. (Google and Microsoft AI Bots Refuse to Declare a Winner)
Lack of Election Results from Microsoft's and Google's Chatbots
There is not any ability in Microsoft’s and google chatbots to give a right and accurate answer to basic questions about election results comes during the biggest global election year in modern history and just a few months ahead of the pivotal 2024 US election. Despite no evidence of widespread voter fraud during the 2020 vote. three out of 10 American citizens still believe that the 2020 vote was stolen. Baseless Conspiracies about the election continued pushed by Trump and his followers.
Google's Statement on Election Queries
Google confirmed to WIRED that its AI will not provide election results for elections anywhere in the world. and they add that this is what the company means by what it previously announced its plan to restrict “election-related queries.”
Because we want to be extra careful, we’ve decided to limit the kinds of election-related questions that the Gemini app will answer. Instead, we’ll direct people to use Google Search,” explained Jennifer Rodstrom, Google’s communications manager, to WIRED. (Google and Microsoft AI Bots Refuse to Declare a Winner)
Microsoft's Statement on Election Queries
Jeff Jones who is the senior director of communications at Microsoft confirmed Copilot’s unwillingness to respond to queries about election results, telling WIRED: “As we work to improve our tools to perform to our expectations for the 2024 elections, some election-related prompts may be redirected to search.”
Historical Struggles with Election Queries
Microsoft’s AI chatbot always struggled with election-related questions this is not the first time. WIRED reported in December that Microsoft’s AI chatbot responded to political queries with conspiracies, misinformation, and out-of-date or incorrect information. In one example, when asked where polling locations for the 2024 US election, the bot referenced in-person voting by liking an article about Russian president Vladimir Putin running for reelection next year. It listed numerous GOP candidates who have already pulled out the race, when asked about electoral candidates. The chatbot suggested multiple channels filled with extremist content and disinformation when we asked for Telegram channels with relevant election information. Research Findings on Election Misinformation
According to research from AIForensics and AlgorithmWatch, organizations dedicated to monitoring AI’s impact on society, Copilot’s spread of election misinformation appears to be widespread. Their findings revealed that the chatbot consistently shared incorrect information about elections in Switzerland and Germany last October. The report states that these inaccuracies included wrong polling numbers, outdated election dates, candidates, and even fabricated controversies about candidates.
Microsoft's Response to Research Findings
In response to these findings, Microsoft spokesperson Frank Shaw informed WIRED that the company is actively working to address these issues and ensure that their tools meet the necessary standards for the upcoming 2024 elections. Microsoft remains committed to safeguarding voters, candidates, campaigns, and election authorities. (Google and Microsoft AI Bots Refuse to Declare a Winner)
